Lazy hands make for poverty, but diligent hands bring wealth.

__ Proverbs 10:4 (NIV)

God wants us to be diligent in what He has called us to do. Proverbs 10:4 lets us know that diligent hands bring wealth. Many of us want to be wealthy and prosperous, but are not willing to do what it takes to get it. But the Bible tells us in this verse that laziness brings poverty, but diligence brings wealth. We have to work if we want to have something, be wealthy or successful. It doesn’t just jump on us.

Diligent means having or showing care and conscientiousness in one’s work or duties. According to Dictionary.com, diligent means constant in effort to accomplish something; attentive and persistent in doing anything. Synonyms for the word diligent are: hard-working, meticulous, persistent, steadfast, constant, and persevering.

We have to work hard and be constant in our efforts. We have to keep on doing what we are doing, and eventually we will see the results we desire. Don’t stop! Keep on keeping on, and one day you will see the fruit of your labor. You will see the harvest of the seeds you have planted. Be diligent! Diligence pays off. All of your hard work will pay off. “Payday is coming!”

Do you see a man diligent in his business? He will stand before kings; he will not stand before obscure men.

Prayer: Lord, I ask you to help me to be diligent and hard-working in what you have called me to do. Help me to be constant in my efforts to accomplish my goals. In Jesus’ name I pray. Amen.
