The Company You Keep

Do not be misled: “Bad company corrupts good character.” __ 1 Corinthians 15:33 (NIV)

We need to be aware of the company we keep, of the people we associate with. We become like those we associate with whether we admit it or not. We need to spend time with positive, loving people who have good character.

The people you choose to associate with will have a greater impact on what you become in life than anything else. Every major change in your life will be associated with a change in the people you associate with. The people with whom you habitually associate, is more important in determining your success or failure than any other single factor. Zig Ziglar said this,

“If you want to fly with the eagles, you can’t continue to scratch with the turkeys.”

Associating with optimistic, results-oriented people with a positive attitude can make a tremendous impact on your performance and your level of success in any endeavor. You must set high standards for your associates and refuse to compromise. Don’t continue to stay in situations that are holding you back from realizing your full God-given potential.

Keep away from people who try to belittle your ambitions. Small people always do that, but the really great make you feel that you, too, can become great. __ Mark Twain
