Trusting God

Trust in the Lord with all your heart and lean not on your own understanding;      _Proverbs 3:5 (NIV)

Trust according to Webster is an assured reliance on the character, ability, strength, or truth of someone or something. Synonyms for trust are confidence, faith, hope, expectation, certainty, assurance, and dependence.

If you have a problem or are facing any circumstance or situation in your life, TRUST GOD! Pray about it and trust God that He will work it out. He might not work it out your way or in your time frame, but trust Him because He is God. Do what you can do and let God do His part, because you can’t. The remainder of this verse says, “lean not on your own understanding.” Don’t lean on your own understanding! God’s ways are not our ways and His thoughts are not our thoughts (Isaiah 55:8 NIV). You can’t figure God out. Only know this: God knows best! Another translation of this verse states, “Lean on, trust in, and be confident in the Lord…”

Put your trust and confidence in God. Lean, depend, and rely on Him. He won’t let you down. You may not understand everything because that is what trust involves, not knowing or understanding. If you understand or know everything, why should you have to trust God? Instead, put your total trust in the One Who does understand and knows all things, and you will not be disappointed.

Prayer: Father God, thank you that I can depend on You. Help me to put my trust in you even when things may seem impossible. I ask this in Jesus’ name. Amen.
